threaded rod shelf

Date

february 2025

I asked some of my coworkers how to connect the large acrylic plates while I was thinking about the Solid Acrylic Shelf. One person suggested using threaded rods so that glue isn't necessary. I liked this idea for this project, but I still used glue on the other one because I wanted the structure to have a pure look and to prevent light from breaking through the steel. For the other one, I used leftover acrylic from a project at Werk5. I had to spend more time on the finish and be more careful to avoid scratches during production. I learned from my previous projects and spent more time planning this one. You can see the production sheet below. I planned more, but I still had the same problem with time, which made the surface quality lower. As you can see in the pictures, there are clear marks of the mill on the sides. This can be fixed by using a polishing milling cutter or by hand sanding and polishing. Both of these solutions require time or money. During the planning and construction phase, I didn't have much of either.
