long lamp
The long lamp is designed to match the small lamp and was created for the same apartment in Berlin.
While the other lamp was created to sit above a coffee table, this one is designed to illuminate a rectangular dining table with a ratio of approximately 3:1. To meet these requirements, I decided to use a neon light tube. While searching for one, I found a plastic light tube with an LED strip built inside. Being dimmable and less fragile, it is a good solution for what I had in mind. Having chosen the light source, I turned to the question of how to transform this standard light tube into a minimal yet elegant dining table lamp. Due to limited access to machinery at this time, I ordered an aluminium pipe to the exact length of the lamp, a steel pipe connector made for yachts, and a steel cable installation kit with spherical steel cable stoppers. After drilling a hole in the pipe connector and the aluminium pipe, I was able to attach the light cylinder to the aluminium pipe on one side. I wanted to use a different material on the other side and used a leather string with Chinese fortune knots to hold it in place. The only things left to do were to drill a few holes in the aluminium pipe to attach it to the ceiling and to run the cable to the energy source.
